Help! Star Wars Dark Forces Freezing

This is using Dosbox 1.75 through Boxer. The game is the original 1.0 from the CD. I made it all the way to level 8, and midway through the game it freezes. Once or twice it's waited until I'm on my wait OUT, mission almost accomplished.

Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? I can't find a listing of a bug that would do this, but then, it's hard to find any listings for this version. Most of the searches pop up Dark Forces II instead. And the one place I found patches listed didn't have anything for the old Dos version.

It did occur to me it might be something misconfigured...but that didn't seem likely, since I got this far without a hitch.

Boxer is not supported here. Ask the boxer dev

I am. But I thought maybe someone here would know if there was a bug in Dark Forces itself?

Also, Does anyone know how to get it to install on the PC...I was using DFend and trying to install but it kept having a problem with the JEDI.conf file.

Anyway, Boxer is just a front end for Dosbox. If the problem is in Dosbox, I assume that is where I'd need to correct it.

No, boxer is not just a frontend, it's a modified Dosbox, with many changes to the code.

Use the search to find out whethrr there was any similar problem with dark forces.

As for your install problem, THAT sounds like a frontend only problem - ask the author or rather do not use a frontend.
