I have Dosbox and the DOS programs in a directory on a Synology NAS drive. The combination works fine if I map the drives to letters Y and Z but I have do this every time before I can use Dosbox. I cannot mount the drives either by their network names or IP addresses presumably due to the 8.3 dos filename limitation (eg 192.168.1.3 or SynologyDrive1). If I were to start with 2 new discs and call them X and Y with sub directory \test containing the DOS files, would they be recognised using:-
mount C X:\test
C:
or is there another simple way round this problem please?

Um, not clear why you need to do it every time. I just mount the network share as a drive in windows and it is remounted every boot.

In any case I have no problem mounting network shares either, for instance this works for me...

mount C "\\T3\media\ROMs\IBM\PC\DOSBox\Eyecandy\Kaliedoplasma"
C:
cd \
Kplasma.exe
exit

...perhaps you were forgetting to prefix things with "\\"?

Most mounting commands shouldn't be limited by 8.3 conventions (i.e. "Eyecandy" and "Kaliedoplasma" above). Though if something is, it should be easy enough to work out the appropriate 8.3 conversion to use.
