Hopkins FBI I actually got FROM THE COMPANY THAT MADE IT. It's SUCH a homebrew production -- the CD is just a CD-R with a white label on it. It's very well done, though, for such a measly bit of work. Now Uplink, that's an *extremely* good homebrewed game. Pressed and all. And for Linux, too!
The Ward uses some kind of propietary module format, which is depressing because it has some great music I was hoping to be able to rip directly. Oh, well. Maybe GAP can do it, though I'm not holding my breath. I actually think this was only a slightly larger than homebrewed game (it's pressed, not burned, and extremely good looking, but there were very few people on the development team).
I have the original Gadget. It's very disturbing and... not really a game at all, like the review on that site's sister site says (try saying that five times aloud). I don't like it because it has almost no music (and what there is isn't really even music) and the graphics are crap compared to what you can do today with any 3D engine (even friggin Q2 could do this). Make a 3D version of it and I'm there, though. It's very cool!
Speaking of 3D artwork, there is apparently this group of seniors at my school making this thing called the "Virtual Gallery" which is a collection of various artwork. They're making it in -- get this -- UNREAL TOURNAMENT. Pathetic, to say the least. And of course, their demo was thoroughly terrible (they didn't even bother to record a good one, they just did it on-the-spot, even though there were, like, 2 things in the entire presentation. Booooring. I should've been in the group, but I heard nothing about it. Damn seniors, keeping all the fun to themselves. Or something. >.<
Oh, and Elroy is an edutainment series. I have one of them. It's pretty nifty, and the style is quite cool (think paper cutouts). IIRC, some of the puzzles are pretty hard to do, too. Haven't played it in a long time, though.
