Ok my ECS K7VTA3 v8.0 is malfunctioning, has been for awhile, I just didnt care enough until now. When I shut it off it powers back on, either power down via windows or pressing the button during bootup, it just acts like a restart. I have to flip the switch on the PSU to make it stay off. Anyone got any ideas on that?

Does this happen with nothing connected? (keyboard, mouse, USB stuff, ethernet cables, etc.)

Longshot: Is it a Sparkle FSP300-60BTV? Happen to have two on the bench right now. One signaled its failure by turning the computer On by itself, then going into an independent cycle of shutting down and turning on.

Pics. Both of these have the same burned out component just behind the IEC socket, if you want to look for similar on yours. (Next question: what is that? I'd been hoping this would be a simple cap replacement, but no luck. The burned jacket is just heatshrink, fwiw.)

'A' is a resistor (like 'B', but larger).

Let the air flow!

Thanks. Was afraid of that. Indicates the trouble is deeper than visual inspection & my rudimentary skills will uncover.
