I had a strange thing with my newly acquired voodoo2.
On a Intel VC820 motherboard it just crashed the whole system after some time.
Before that, it showed bad gfx and gfx error.

When running on a Gigabyte GA-5AX it had absolutely no issues at all.

Does someone know why this could be?

Assuming that it was and is still running with the same drivers/timing etc., I'd bet on it going bad.
Just an idea with nothing to back it up, but you can always confirm or reject this theory by trying it again with the m/b it used to function correctly.

The timings might be the thing here. The VC820 is an Intel board, and yeah... The Intel board have no settings for timing.
And the Intel board is running with PC-800 (RD-Ram), wich is just a bit faster than SD-Ram. It might be that.

Another strange thing, is that the VC820 has some of the same issues with my V3-3500. Not as bad as the V2 though.
So... Perhaps the Intel VC-820 is not that happy about using Voodoo's.
(I might be in the market for a 440BX board now 😁)

EDIT:
All other type of hardware..... Both PCI and AGP, runs great on this board.

Try lowering agp speed and disable all agp settings (voodoo can't use them anyway). For voodoo2 try different slot.

Nope. Sorry... The BIOS does not have those settings at all. Wich is strange.
The only two options in the BIOS regarding Video, AGP aperture size and AGP/PCI init.
The board must be a referance model of some sort, or a system builder board.
