I today got for free a Compaq S720 CRT monitor and tested it.

It works fine at 1024x768 resolution in Windows, but when I tried to run some older DOS games, e.g. Aldo's Adventure, the whole image is not shown on the screen.

I tried to adjust the width of the image using the buttons on the monitor, but still didn't get the whole image showing. Aldo's Adventure uses 640x480 screen resolution if I remember correctly.

Could this be a problem with the video card or doesn't this monitor support this basic screen resolution correctly? I was able to make the visible image a bit narrower but still the left and right sides were not showing.

Solved the problem now. It was either problem with Windows or the video card on the computer (which was actually an old laptop). Connected the monitor to another computer with S3 Trio video card and then it worked just fine with all resolutions.
