Hi

i always thought that quite any VLB Multi I/O Controller should be faster than an ISA Multi I/O controller, however in my 486 DX4-100 system I just found out that the VLB card is even a little bit slower in Speedsys HDD Fast test.
Is this the wrong test, do I have to load some kind of driver or am I doing anything else wrong?

The VLB VGA card is in the first VLB slot and the I/O controller is in the second VLB slot.

thanks!

I would think that you need to use at least the higher PIO modes to see the difference between ISA and VLB. DMA modes, preferably. Odds are your BIOS does not use those, so you might need some sort of DOS driver... or try those benchmarks from within Windows 9x.

thank you, I've loaded a DOS driver and now it is faster!
