That's a card cooler - it may also help with overall cooling if there is a side vent that it can draw from, but it's main function is to direct airflow to tightly packed cards, or to operate in tandem with some of Zalman's "fanless" coolers.
The alternative is expansion slot extractors (like the Akasa listed on the same page) - beware though some take liberties with the "single slot" form factor - or maybe the cards next to them do, so that they will NOT fit between two cards.
Also, some slot extractor fans clog up very easily - I was pleased to find a slim one, but the idiots used blades more like a fan than a blower, so it tended to pack itself full of muck.
I'd check for a front fan mounting position - a lower front intake fan not only gets the air moving in the case, but brings fresh air in - something that Zalman will only do if there is a side vent.
