Well, there was a certain brief period of time before Windows 3.1 came to dominate the market when Microsoft and Apple still got along pretty well with one another. A bit of Googling suggests Microsoft adopted that particular logo in 1987 (though I can't find anything that looks particularly definitive), which would have been right before things went really sour (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_Computer, … _Microsoft_Corp. ).

I saw this mouse pad at a local thrift store recently, and felt compelled to buy it. It had some coffee still on it, but I cleaned it up. I've been to trying to figure out why this thing existed. "Windows" on a Mac? Can anyone "make it all make sense"?

In this screenshot, "Microsoft Windows" is the name of the file, not the application.

The application is probably Macpaint or something similar.

It's still a very peculiar item!

Maybe a dig about how only Mac makes Windows work? Cool mousepad though. 😀

I see. Nice. I thought that the one I linked to, was the first hardware based system that worked.
And that everything before that, was more or less just software based.
Anyway... Think the mouse pad refers to these type of hardware based sollutions, and not just some gimmicky "fun" thing.
You know. The old PC-VS-Mac war. Wich were just plain awefull to hear back then. (still is)

There's also the DOS Compatible Quadra/Centris 610, predating Power Macs. (And in a similar vein is the IIgs card for Mac LCs.)
