I was digging through a box in my garage and found my old Turtle Beach Montego (AU8820B2) that I had bought at retail back in the day. Over time, I forgot I had this at this location, and I even forgot that the card was a Vortex 1 and not a Vortex 2. Over the past couple of years, I've acquired a few Montego II Vortex 2 cards (I use the AU8830 that actually says Vortex2 on the IC).

My question is whether there's any reason to use the Vortex 1. Anything it can do with a particular game that the Vortex 2 can't? Thanks!

Think of the Vortex1's as Vortex2 advantage cards. They are great for dos and being used in spare computers which you don't want to sacrifice a Vortex2 into.
They can process 32 DS3D channels + 8 A3D sounds and have smaller HRTF filters, but this isn't that bad.
The Vortex2's do 80 DS3D channels, 64WT + 16 A3D.
In my reverse engineering efforts I've found the Vortex2 is basically two Vortex1's smooshed together internally, with some other major additions.
