I've had this sound card in my 386 since back in the day, but only recently had a good look at it. The specifics of the hardware weren't of any interest to me when I was a kid.

It's apparently a Sound Blaster 2.0 clone of some sort, with sockets (empty of course) for CMS chips.

I still have the manual and the disks.

I scanned the manual, which is uploaded here.

Also, while the disks no longer work, the directory containing all the relevant files (I think) were still on my 386 so I uploaded them here.

....and this is what is sounds like: Galactix In-Game Music

Welcome to the forum!

I thought I recognised the name! 😜 https://twitter.com/Vyothric/status/636290261396680704

Did you find out any more? I saw one guy say the other socket is for the GAL, but in my mind the placement doesn't make sense.

Keen to see how this turns out! 😀

I'll put the driver files on VogonsDrivers now. Thanks y'all! 😁

Hello 😀

Thought I should finally post something and share the sound card stuff here too. Thought it might be of interest. In the same way that all roads lead to Rome, all my google searches about old PC hardware lead to the Vogons forum.

The manual doesn't say much regarding the CMS chips (no reference to the GAL chip/socket), just that there's a jumper to enable the CMS chips if they're there. I'll give it a try sometime if I get the chips though and post the results.

So, I finally got the CMS chips and a programmer so I could test the CMS support on this card.

I'll do some proper recordings at some point.
