Has anyone tried using Dosbox with on of the new 144Hz LCD monitors? Can you run the monitor at 70Hz or 140Hz? Does this let you have smooth scrolling in games that expect a 70Hz refresh rate? Thanks.

So a small update for anyone who may be interested. I was able to convince my monitor to run at 70Hz by using the Custom Resolution Utility. Doing so does achieve smooth scrolling for games that run at 70Hz. Another nice thing is that DOSbox now automatically switches to using that refresh rate even if my desktop is not.

I would still love to know about 144Hz monitors though.

You'd need the software to sync itself with the Monitor. I'm not sure DOSBox has this ability. This is what many emulators, for example UAE does, if it detects the refresh as being "close enough", the emulator will sync itself to the refresh rate and you willg et smooth scrolling for PAL games for example (50 Hz).

Right, I understand that mainline DOSbox doesn't have vsync. Even so, at 70hz the scrolling is much smoother. I compared a few games (Commander Keen 4, Pinball Dreams, and Tyrian) in DOSbox to that of a real Dos machine on a CRT and it seemed just as smooth to me.
