I'm not a huge fan of floppy emulators if only that I feel they kill the retro aesthetic but there is no denying the usefulness. that said I have 2 questions

1) can they be swapped with the floppy from a parallel port backpack 1.44mb floppy drive? seems like this would be very convenient

2) thinking of installing one in an Amiga and Atari ST since the floppy drives on those are on the side so it doesn't distract from the look so much. my question is can you write to the USB floppy images as well as read? do these handle straight data like a real floppy disk and not just images? for instance saves. If I have one on say an Amiga and no hard drive and I'm playing a game off disk and need to save can I just click over to a blank disk and save to it? I'm assuming yet but I want to be sure this isn't a problem.

1) I haven't seen it done but I can't see why it wouldn't work
2) HxC has full write support, HxC Gotek should also support writing but in practice I've had issues with it.

With the GOTEK on a PC, yes, you can swap floppies on the fly, just like on a real machine, and of course you can save / write data onto it. Why wouldn't you 😀

You can format, you can copy, you can delete...

I have bought one very cheap one on ebay to replace the drive of my msx2. Had to play around with the jumpersettings. But it seems to work almost perfect. Some times i need to power the computer on twice before the drives becomes ready. Need to see if changing the jumpers would fix this.

If you use a gotek in a amiga, you first need to flash the drive before you can use it with an amiga.
