Hi,
I got this GMB-486SPS mobo (486,pci,1Mb cache support, 128mb ram) with long 32pin cache support. I got only 4 of H64C512-15N cache but no tag. On the manual I see it has 32kx8 as tag for 512kbyte configuration. Do I need the tag anyway so actually I can't boot it with these or I can user a smaller number pin tag I have?
I don't have much experience with tag/cache.

You need smaller 256kb cache chip as tag. Without tag chip cache (maybe even board) won't work.
