Just recently found out wich motherboard I had back in 1995 to 1997-ish.

It was an Edom 486VL3H MV020 motherboard, with an Intel 80486-DX2 66mhz and 8mb of Ram.

(I used a CL-5428 VL-Bus with 1mb of ram and a Side-JR-Pro VL-Bus controller plus
a Creative SB16 CT-2770 with this motherboard)

Besides the manuals for the SB16, I still have all the manuals from the machine.
And if I had to get one again, how well did the motherboard stand the test of time?
I just remember it as a bit of a slow board that for some reason just worked.

What have people to say about this particular board?

Well, I can't comment on the 486 version alone... but I can comment on a EDOM 386 / 486 hybrid board I have.

To me it works well enough, utilizing the Opti-495SX chipset makes it really realiable... VLB works well with 386 CPU's. In terms of timings though... it is faster than the other 386 / 486 hybrid (Opti chipset) board I have, but there are other faster hybrid boards... one I have using a chipset from 'Ali'. The EDOM hybrid board though (between the two Opti boards) comes with more onboard options regarding wait states / VLB timings which I've found to make it more flexible and a little bit faster, being able to be pushed a little more!

Yep, I like the EDOM board! 😁

I remember it as a nice and decent board. Well... It was ok for games like Doom and earlier.
Remember playing a lot of Civ1, Settlers, Spacesim, Decent1, Syndicate and stuff like that.
Basically most of the games, released between 1990 and 1995.
It had some speed-issues when dealing with Duke3D. Other than that, it was a nice workhorse.

It was used as a MS-Dos-6.22 box. I even ran Os/2 on that baby. All worked well with 8mb of ram.
