First, Night Dive Studios (a relatively new company, dedicated to making old games available, and to remaking old games) acquired the rights to sell System Shock 2. Then they did the same for the original System Shock, which was apparently quite a feat - at one time, three different companies, including an insurance company(!), owned part of it's rights all at once if the rumours are to be believed.

Then it was announced that the company is remaking System Shock for modern machines (PC and console), for very early screenshots, see:

http://www.polygon.com/2015/11/25/9801434/sys … -first-look-art

and there were rumours that they were farming out the making of a sequel, now the following page:

http://www.othersidetease.com/strawberry.php

actually names System Shock 3, and a countdown has appeared at:

http://www.othersidetease.com/p089gg.php

(currently counting down from five days and sixteen hours), presumably to an announcement of the new game.

Yes, the game might still never appear, yes if it does it might be dumbed down so far that it's just a (forgettable) first person shooter, and even if it is does arrive and is good and fairly complex then it might still not feel like a System Shock game, but even with the gaming industry's current attitude of "Gamers are idiots, so make the game very simple and release most of it as paid for DLC" it's still possible that this could turn out to be a really good game, and the System Shock 3 that we've always wanted. We do still get the odd great game from time to time.

I like how the meta description for both Otherworld Entertainment pages reads: "Join the original team behind Ultima Underworld on a quest to rekindle this legendary fantasy RPG series."

"Fantasy RPG"? Really? >_>;

Plus, both pages look cobbled together in like, two minutes.

I have more faith towards the SS1 remake in the works than anything presently going through the rumour mill about an SS3. :P
