The ONLY issue I am having with this board is that when I boot into MS-DOS mode from Windows 98 SE I get a blinking cursor and that's it. My graphics card is a GeForce 2 MX. Happens regardless if I have drivers for the gpu installed or not. This also happens sometime upon just shutting down the PC.

Is it related to this problem you had over a year ago?

Help with DOS mode in Windows 98 SE

If so, you could try the suggestions given then and see if they help with your current issue.

Ooohh, the pain......

It's not related to that issue, as that issue was fixed with changing out the graphics cards and using an older driver. I have tried multiple GPUs with this and this is a different motherboard.

Is this the motherboard?

Re: Good Pentium 3 Board with ISA and Tualatin Support?

Did you try video cards from ATI? S3? 3dfx?

What sound card are you using? PCI or ISA?

Yes it is that board. I haven't tried another brand of graphics cards. But I tried a Nvidia TNT2 and a Geforce 2 MX and I am using a ISA Soundblaster AWE64. I haven't set up the drivers yet for it.

Time for a change then. Grab any AGP card that's not from Nvidia, replace the GF2MX with it and try MS-DOS Mode again; if the issue persists/no other AGP card brands then try a PCI card. The idea is to see where the problem lies (Nvidia video cards or the motherboard).

Also, can you list the PC hardware you've installed so far (besides the GF2MX and AWE64)?

EDIT: Something else I just remembered. Did you install the VIA 4-in-1 drivers? They are needed to get AGP cards working properly.

Well, I have those cards, 512 MB of RAM, a 1.13 GHz Pentium 3, SLI Voodoo 2s, and some random NIC. And I don't have another AGP card on me right now. I'll get a Voodoo 3 AGP soon though.

Turns out the issue was with the NIC. Took it out, computer went into DOS mode and shut down fine. Wasn't going to use it very often anyways.

Great, you found the solution! Network cards can be problematic at times, it's best not to install one unless there's a real need IMHO.
