Problem with DosBox and real modems

I have a real 56K modem plugged into COM1 and I can confirm it works fine with other software, even emulators. DosBox SVN r3957, however, hangs on "Serial1: Opening COM1" and that's all the output I get; No stdxxx.txt logs either.

Serial parameters set as follows: serial1=directserial realport:COM1

Tested on 32-Bit Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3.

Any ideas?
