Hi Folks,

wondering if anyone has any concrete evidence on the differences between the 2 major AMD K5 revisions, the SSA/5 & 5K86. Be interesting to see how the apparent optimisations really effected the chip.

Best,
Chris

i have a k5-pr166 which is 5k86 core. i have not ssa/5 core atm(planning to get one) but i believe there is quite a bit difference.
in my benchmarks, the k5 did very well in winrar, quake2 and quake3, its also fairly good at winquake(software rendering) and 3dmark2001, which is still very impressive considering it has no multimedia instructions. its not good at linx and superpi, but somehow better than winchip and 6x86.
