Hi,

Sorry to be offtopic in this forum, but I didn't know where to ask this question.

My OS is Windows 2000 SP4. The computer is relatively recent (a P4 at 1.7 GHz with 256 MB of RAM) and its BIOS is up-to-date. The video card is a Geforce2 MX with 64 MB of VRAM.

I'm using WordPerfect 5.1 (I know it's old, but it's mandatory at the office, we have no choice).

The problem is that the cursor moves too slowly when I use the arrow keys. I've tweaked every possible option in the .PIF shortcut but it's always slow. I've changed the typematic settings in the BIOS and in the Windows Control Panel, to no avail 🙁

However, when I press the "Num Lock" key once inside the program, the problem disappears. And when I press the "Num Lock" key again, the problem reappears!

Why does the "Num Lock" key change the cursor movement speed? Is this a bug in NTVDM?

I've tried the same trick with an old DOS database program made with Foxpro and it behaved exactly the same as WordPerfect 5.1.

Why does NTVDM show this strange behaviour?

Thank you very much.
Kind regards.

Yes, it's a known bug in NTVDM.
