Hi everybody!

First if all, I'd like to congratulate CanadaCow for his great work on the MT-32 Emulator! Playing all those old games with "real" music instead of Adlib FM is short of a revelation 😀

Now for my problem: has anyone got the windows driver to run with ScummVM? Since I prefer this engine to emulating the LucasArts adventures in Dosbox, I have tried for two days or so to get the windows driver to work with it. i failed. miserably 😖
the dosbox-version works mostly fine with the games, music sounds great except for a few details. but then i can't get digital sound (e.g. in fate of atlantis) to work at the same time, and that's something i don't want to miss. besides, scummvm offers better scalers 😉
the windows driver results in the music sounding somewhere between horrible, strange or bizarre. More precisely, instruments are wrong, too quiet, out of tune etc.
😳

now this doesn't seem to be a problem with the MT-32 Emulator (although i know the windows driver is an older version), but with scummvm.
the engine seems to try to change the music format from mt32 to general midi (internal "emulation" by scummvm) and THEN push it through the MIDI mapper, i.e. the MT32-Driver which is ... a bad idea i guess. at least, that's what i could find out from their READMEs.
likewise, enabling "native-mt32" option seems to use the MPU-401 interface, which I have nothing connected to of course. why else would i want to use the emulator... so this doesn't work either - strangely enough, i do hear sound with the latter option, though it is much too quiet to hear anything discernible 🙁

now, if anyone had a similiar problem / found a solution, i would be very glad to hear! 😁

one ring to rule them all...

When I release my final driver version I should have this fixed. I'm still trying to iron out the memory leaks and make stable before I get to this point, unfortunately.

Any news on if/when ScummVM will add MT-32 emulation? I know they've talked about it in the past but were going to wait until the emulation was "more mature"... don't some of the devs frequent these forums?
