Years ago, (my first thread here actually) I was getting help with fixing DOS memory management and a kindly user (soviet conscript) 😀 showed me this very nice lightweight DOS cd driver of just 32K. I sometimes go back to that old thread to re-download it time to time, but now I noticed today that the link is dead. Could someone please show me a new link for the same DOS driver again? Thanks a bunch! It means a lot to me.

Years ago I came upon this dos cd-rom driver http://www.spacequest.net/archives/misc/customsqpc/cdrom.zip it has its own installer, us only something like 32kb and has worked on every cd drive I've ever tried it with. Maybe it will work better for you? It also fits on a 1.44mb floppy unzipped.

Do you remember the name of the actual driver in cdrom.zip?

The MDGX recommended drivers are at http://www.mdgx.com/newtip1.htm#CDROM4 . Perhaps it is one of those.
