Hi all

I added an Orchid Righteous card to by DOS build, and im trying to get GTA working in 3DFX mode.

Inititally, I received an error about a missing DLL. So after a bit of reading online I downloaded the following driver and copied GLIDE2X.OVL from it http://www.falconfly.de/downloads/voodoo1-30100.zip to C:\VOODOO and added this to my PATH env variable.

However, when I launch the game I hear the relay in the card click but then I get a screen that looks like this:

Not good!

I tried another version I found from an Orchid driver zip file from the falconfly site but this one just complains the DLL is missing.

Im pretty sure the card works OK as I had it running under win95 previously.

Managed to fix it using a file I found from the "GTA 3DFX Demo"

Put this in the "GTADOS" folder and you're good to go 😀

Sorry for digging up this old post but I recently tried to run GTA 1 with 3Dfx in real dos and it gave me a headache.
Turns out you need an old version of GLIDE2X.OVL for it to run but the system also needs a minimum of
32MB of RAM or you will end up with the infamous "FATAL ERROR: UNABLE TO LOAD DLL" - which is kind of misleading.

I also wrote a short blog post on this if anyone is interested:
