Has any used, or are familiar with these? I was scrolling through Digi-Key last week looking for Dallas RTCs when I stumbled across these particular Maxim Integrated chips. According to the spec sheets, they claim their chips are direct drop-in replacement for IBM and compatible systems that use Dallas 12885, 12887, and 12887A RTCs, including ODIN and Benchmarq.

I've ordered one along with a socket to test whether or not they are compatible, and if so this would mean not having to purchase NOS Dallas chips from China!

Spec sheet:

Well those *are* 12887 chips. What the datasheet says is that they're compatible with the older 1287. Nothing new here.

I/O, I/O,
It's off to disk I go,
With a bit and a byte
And a read and a write,
I/O, I/O

Maxim IS Dallas. Maix bought Dallas Semi in like 2002. the Maxim RTC's are Dallas RTC's.
