Is there such a thing as an external AT/ATX power supply?
If so, where do you find them? Or would you have to cobble something out of a laptop power brick and some adapters?

Bingo! That is exactly what I'm looking for. Thank you. Does Newegg or Amazon have them?

Don't know. Take a look. They don't output much power. Like 200w and less for most models. Most are 120w I think you can get them up to 300w
I don't really need too much power, just powering a small motherboard, CD-ROM, floppy and perhaps compact flash or laptop HD. Everything else is integrated on the motherboard.
Are you trying to resurrect a Shuttle XPC by any chance? I have one and I've had a hell of a time finding a PSU for it; was thinking I'd have to resort to external as well. I was going to adapt an Xbox 360 PSU but haven't gotten around to it yet.

No, I have a Powerleap board and wanted to use that in my Tandy 1000 but needed a way to be able to power the Tandy and the Powerleap at the same time, so I wanted to go with an external PSU.
