Hey guys.
I recently acquired a Gigabyte GV-AG32S Rage 128 AGP4x card as a throw in with a lot of other cards so i decided to try the Rage Dawning Demo on it. It actually took me quite a while just to get the XP Drivers installed (The standard download on ATI's site didnt detect the card, i had to get it from Gigabyte's site). Anyways when I did the most I've gotten from the demo is a loading time glass for about 10 seconds and then nothing. I checked task manager, the process is just sitting there with around 4000KB ram usage and 0 processor usage. I've tried both the original version and the uber-patched version available on the Internet Archive. I just can't get it to run.
I have a suspect reason that why this is is because my system drive somehow got the drive letter F during Windows Install so the demo must be trying to locate files that would normally be in a specific location on C: drive. That being said I'm not 100 percent sure this is the issue and I don't think i could fix the drive letter issue without reinstalling Windows (which is something I'd prefer to avoid).
My second suspect is that the card isn't being detected correctly by the demo for the same reason the normal drivers didn't want to work. I also thought maybe the card just wasn't working right in 3D but that wasn't it (it passed 3DMark 2000). I'm really out of idea's at this point.
Does anybody here know the solution to this particular issue?
System is: Pentium 4 2.8GHZ, 2GB DDR, ATI Rage 128 32MB hooked in via VGA to a 1024x768 analog LCD.
