So in Descent II you can type 'frametime' to bring up a live FPS counter in the game. There is also a built-in demo (descent2.dem). You can watch this demo and eyeball the FPS counter to try and guess performance. Has anyone ever tried to capture and record this data, similar to Quake or Doom timedemos? I wonder if it could be done by one of our talented coders here?

Just wondering.

I didn't know this! Would be fun to compare Virge, Verite, and Voodoo benchmarks.

Even on the unaccelerated version, it would be cool to get an average FPS from the .dem file. As it stands now, I just load up some save games that are in sections of varying complexity, and observe where the framerate is, then try different graphics cards with the same saves. One thing I've noticed is the TNT2 M64 framerates in these situations are about 10% higher than S3 Virge.
