Hello Everyone
I just came into possession of a gateway 2000 tower
It has a pentium 120 and 32megs of ram.
the
motherboard Id is AA 652605-501 with a 430fx chipset Chip number SB82437FX66
Does anyone know where I can get motherboard info- Jumper settings of download chipset drivers?
I would like to install Windows 98SE as the machine is in pretty good shape.
I have a Pentium 166 but don`t know if voltage has to be changed on the board
Thank for your help or any info or opinions

Hi! Chipset drivers shouldn't be vendor-specific, just get the newest ones that support your chipset here.

As long as that Pentium 166 is Classic and not MMX, you should be fine with voltage. However, you need to change bus clock and clock multiplier: Pentium 120 = 60 MHz x 2, Pentium 166 = 66 MHz x 2.5. Jumper settings for that should be silkscreened on the motherboard itself.

You might want to use Google to search the Gateway site for information on your specific model number ("P5-120"). They still have a lot of manuals, drivers and data sheets available, but those can't all be accessed via the Gateway homepage itself.

Is it this one: https://panam.gateway.com/s//MOTHERBD/SOLECTR … 2500420nv.shtml?

Thanks for the info. I go to phils site quite a lot. none of those drivers will install on win98. Windows 98SE installed and works but shows the only a standard hard disk controller with no DMA.
I may have to go to windows 95

hey, I have a gateway that looks almost identical to that! Mine's a G6-200, though. Came with a pentium pro and around 128 megs of ram.
