Hi guys,

Indulge me! This is not a pitch/sell, I just wanted to gage:

In your opinion, is there any market our there for refurbished 486/pentium 1 computers? I've found some old ATX-based systems that I've been putting into new cases, with flash storage solutions. This one is a Dell Pentium 166.

I also have a small stock of never used retro graphics cards (using a PCI ATI rage in this one), and sound blaster CT2800's with Yamaha OPL chips that I could put in for DOS magic!

Any advice would be appreciated... let me know if this might be too niche. Lol. 😀

Thanks,
James

If you're after getting the most money for your hardware, selling individually will likely get you more money. People into this hobby are generally buying or finding each item they want piece by piece to build the system they want. I've seen very few complete systems sell (may be my local area though). The exception to that rule is 100% original old OEM systems -- IBM, Packard Bell, Gateway and the like. They retain more value as a whole package.

Take the system apart, and have everything packed as indevidual items/components.
Check prices on eBay, shave anything between 40 to 60% off that number and put it on Amibay.
Or find a local (national based were you live) online selling and set it up for sale there too.

Don't eat stuff off a 15 year old never cleaned cpu cooler.
Those cakes make you sick....
