Hello,

I got myself an ASUS CUV4X-M motherboard and have Installed Windows 98SE on it.

There seems to be an issue in MS-DOS. When booting directly into Windows 98SE's pure DOS games "stutter".

Doom for example freezes for a bit every 2 seconds or so and then resumes normally. This of course makes the game unplayable.

Dune also has this issue. I have not tried many other games but it seems to be a general issue.

Under Windows it works.

These are the current specs:

Motherboard: ASUS CUV4X-M Rev 1.04
Chipset: Via Apollo Pro133A
CPU: Pentium III 866MHz CPU
RAM: 256MB of PC133 SDRAM
Graphics card: ASUS Nvidia Geforce2 MX400 (also tried a Diamond Viper V770 TNT2)
Sound: Onboard VIA VT82C686A AC97 Sound with Soundblaster Pro emulation (disabling doesn't change anything)
HDD: 80GB Samsung Spinpoint
Floppy: 3 1/4' floppy drive
Optical Drive: LiteOn DVD/RW drive

Do you guys have any idea what's wrong?

If it works using DOS in window, then use DOS in window. I use it for all my DOS games on my slot 1 system.
