Picked up a Colormunki|Display recently to use with DisplayCAL/ArgyllCMS and really liking the results.

I am wondering if there are similar modern-ish tools that can be used with colorimeters for color management in DOS? I mean how did they do this back in the day. I can't imagine major game assets being done on uncalibrated machines as far as the pros go.

I don't see why not..? For a long time color palettes were way too limited to begin considering such things. And even after that it seems to me "color management" was principally a concern for those who wanted to be sure that what was displayed on screen was going to match an existing product or printout – and by then no one was using DOS anymore.

idk. I'd hate to think they didn't have some kind of rudimentary system to maintain consistency across multiple screens or something.
Even if it was just software that used a sensor to help you directly tweak values on the monitor itself.
