I have an ATAPI Iomega ZIp 250 drive I am attempting to install into my 98 box. It is set as Secondary Slave, I even checked the jumpers and they are jumpered to "slave"

Whenever I hook it up, it recognizes it, but when it gets to the boot screen it says "DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER."

It also probes for a floppy disk in the 5.25" drive (the 3.5 drive is an LS-120 drive.)

Did it change the drive letter for the C: drive? I've tried to set the boot order as "CDROM, C, A" and "C, CDROM, A" and it doesn't work both ways. 😕

*edit, it did. Setting the boot priority to boot from D: fixed it. But yet it is reported as "G:" in Windows 98! 😕 😕

Windows kind of does what it wants with drive letters. I did many 98SE (and other versions too) installs back in the day and I often disconnected unnecessary devices for the install and then hooked them back up after just because it was an easy way to have some control over the drive lettering without having to go and fix it after the fact. I don't remember how to change it in 9x offhand though.

Yes, I always ramble this much.

The iomega driver CD included something that easily enabled drive letter swapping.
