This guy claims he had a 386 system that he eventually upgraded into a 486 DX4 100 using a socket adapter, and that he also installed a Diamond Monster 3D in it. This doesn't sound right to me, as that's a PCI card, and there weren't any PCI 386 boards to my knowledge.

most likely an "upgrade" included the motherboard. So basically all that was original was the case.

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.
