I downloaded and tried the MT2GM patch to remap my LAPCI to play General midi tracks. From the readme it's not clear to me which midi files I need to play to complete the switch to GM and if there is an order I should follow. Anyone know?

well from experimentation cmr-sfx.mid on its own is no good. Clearly sounds wrong. For now I've settled on playing cmr-sfx.mid followed by mtgm.mid and it seems to sound good.

Depending on what MIDI files you are playing, the Sierra game MT-32-GM SysEx may also be helpful. But it misses out on various instruments.

What GM tracks are you playing, or is it games?

Thanks, it's mostly to try with some early GM dos games. Doom for example now sounds much better. Is the Sierra game MT-32-GM SysEx on here http://www.midimusicadventures.com/queststudi … urce/utilities/ ? (which one) or do you have another link?
