I purchased this 486 SBC off eBay, and when I plugged it into my backplane it would not post, there is a power light that blinks but that is all it does, I know it is getting power becuase of the LED and that I used my multimeter to probe the power connector on the card and it had the appropriate voltages. The power connector is provided to use the card strictly as an SBC without a passive backplane and is not required if using the card in a passive back plane. I tried all of the normal things, I reseated the CPU, the Bios, the Cache chips , the ram, I tried different ram, I set the bus jumpers to 25mhz down from the 33mhz default. I have no Idea what CPU is on the card since the heatsink is epoxied and there are no markings on the CPUm but I tried the CPu at 4V and then 5V and it didn't help either. I suspect the card got fried from static since it was wrapped in plain bubble wrap and sitting in packing peanuts when it arrived to me. I got a full refund from the seller already so I didn't lose anything.
Does anybody have any Idea whether there may be something repairably wrong with it or do you think it is completely dead.
