Would this work on a 486?

There is also this ball mouse, but it would be nicer to have an optical one.

keep in mind that the optical one needs that special mousepad to work - can't say I am a fan of it personally
maybe keep an eye for matze79's serial->ps2 mouse adapter so you can use a proper optical ps2 one

I have one of matze79's adapters already, although I have not got a power supply for it yet, I was just curious about those other ones.
