I've accumulated several rare sound cards over the years and I've always toyed with sticking them all into the same machine. Lets just say that I did this. What kind of compatibility could I expect?

Roland LAPC-I (MT-32)
Roland RAP-10 (SC-7)
Roland SCC-1 (SC-55)
Sound Blaster 16 (Best digital compatibility) + (NEC XR385/Yamaha DB60XG)

This would require at least four ISA slots. Notably missing is a Gravis Ultrasound, sadly.

Is there anything else that I might be missing from this list for an iconic sound source?

I have an Lapci, Rap-10, Awe64 (for digital) and a SB pro mainly for FM.

I aslso havs an SCC1 but I don't think it adds much over the Rap10.

Just a minor note there: The LAPC-I is more like a CM-32L rather than an MT-32. It has the 33 additional sound effects the CM-32L provides.

END OF LINE.

no need to install that RAP-10 , the SCC-1 supersedes it when it comes to midi

I agree, thing to concider is that pairing the rap-10 with the lacpi would allow for an intelligent mpu401 for another system

I happen to like the sounds from the SC-7 over the SC-55 depending on the game. Which is why the RAP-10 is a really cool card for me. 😀

the problem becomes one of enough IRQ's, DMA and and overlapping IO addresses. Can the roland cards all be configured for different IO ports etc?
