Hello all,

I have a bcm sq591 mainboard which i'm installing into a retro system I want to build. The system is running fine. The only problem I'm facing is that I don't know how to connect the 4 pin power led. The 4 pin power led has two empty positions in the middle. + and - are on position 1 and 4.

When I bought the system the power-led on the case was working, but after disconnecting all the wires and cleaning everything I have no idea how he the previous owner managed to get it to work.. I have attached the manual as attachment.

If anyone has any idea, thanks a lot!

Hi, thanks for the manual. 😀 Do you mean the HDD LED ?
I guess the pin pointing inwards is +, since it is marked with a triangle.
Anyway, I believe reverse polarity doesn't kill a LED instantly. It's a diode, after all.
Current only flows through in one direction, that's why it can be used as a rectifier.

The attachment led.gif is no longer available

Thanks for your reply. The HDD led is working, so that is no issue. I mean the power-led. Which is used to show if the system is turend on or not. But I don't see any connector on the mainbord for the power-led.

OK, but as you can see, the keylock connector does not support connecting 4-pin power led connectors, only 3-pin.

I don't think I've ever heard of 4-pin power led connectors, standard cases always had 3-pin.

Motherboard manual also says that turbo led is unused and always on so it can be used as 2-pin power led.

For that 5-pin Keylock/Power-led. They are basically standardised.

EDIT:
I see that geertjanb found the answer before me.
The good part is that it is an AT-class standard, and will probably work on nearly all AT systems.
