I have a Msi ss7 motherboard that is missing a regulator (due to scrapper who ripped off the alu heatsink with regulator).

Thanx to a Vogoner i know it is regulator cs5207-1. I can't find this one so can i use a replacement part that is a bit more common? Like something that can be ordered from aliexpress?

Thanx!

well, its a 7 amp part. switching regulators have killed the linear ones. thats problem one.

problem 2 is, the board was designed for a certain regulator, and possibly wont supply the correct voltage if the adjustment curve is different than the 5207

someone from china is selling them on ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/192129399698

I have trust issues with things from china, but there are no replacements on mouser or digikey that I could find.

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.

Thank you very much. Since i have no idea if the board is working or not i guess i have to keep it for parts. Maybe i'll find a defective one some day that can donate the regulator.
