Some time ago i was searching some infos to the power consumption of the older CPU's, we all like to install in our retro builds from the past.
I would like to share here these results...

As database, i have taken the results from tomshardware's "Benchmark Marathon: 65 CPUs from 100 MHz to 3066 MHz"

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/benchmark … rathon,590.html

I really like this old benchmark 'marathon' cause it also compares older models with newer ones... 😀

I have placed them into groups, for example all Pentium III together or all AthlonXP's together.
The relevant benchmarks, i have selected:

  • - Quake 3 Arena (1024x768 resolution)
    - 3DMark 2001
    - Unreal Tournament 2003 (1024x768 resolution)

Awesome stuff, job well done 😀
But please use "0" as base on your graphs (at least, the pure FPS ones).

Interesting... I would have expected the PIII and Athlon to be more or less evenly matched, and the P4 to be less efficient.
But it looks like the PIII is in a class of its own in terms of efficiency, and the P4 Northwood is very close to the most efficient Athlons. It's only the Willamette that's very inefficient.
