Hello,

I'm attempting to run TIE Fighter, the Collector's CD version on a Win XP laptop...I'm sure you all understand my pain 😀

Here's what I've done so far...

I've downloaded DOSBox (v. 0.61)
I've downloaded VDMSound, and linked it up with the tie.exe command
I've gone into dosbox and mounted both the c:\tiecd directory and my d: as CD-Rom.

Here's where I run into trouble...whenever I try to run dosdrv, dosbox crashes. If I just run tie.exe, I'm brought to the install menu (yes, I've already done maximum install on the game).

As I'm sure you've guessed, I have no trouble running the game itself. However, getting the sound and my USB Joystick to work...ay, there's the rub.

I'm computer literate but I'm far from being a programmer...if anyone can give you some instructions in idiot-speak, I'd greatly appreciate it! 😀

Just a clarification: DOSBOX and VDMSound are two completely indepent products. You can have them on one computer, but they do not need each other. You are either using DOSBOX (and VDMSound does nothing) or you run the game natively using VDMSound (and DOSBOX does nothing).
If you have trouble running the game with DOSBOX, then go to the DOSBOX Games/Apps forum.
This forum is for VDMSound related problems (nothing to do with DOSBOX).

Please read the faq, the readme's, the tutorials. I thinkwith the information there you can solve your problem.

If not, you should describe your problem in detail. We cant help you if you just say "sound and joystick dont work".
