nforce3 250 chipset and Windows 98?

I came across a ASRock K8NF3-VSTA for quite cheap and it has an nforce3 250 chipset. Some places say that nforce3 chipsets are not supported under Windows 98 but Nvidia has Win98 drivers available for it.

I was curious if anyone has ran such a board and/or chipset under Windows 98 and had no issues.

nForce3 250 is fully 98SE compatible.
K8NF3-VSTA is almost identical drivers-wise to the K8Upgrade-NF3 which I had and used 98SE on with.
However, K8NF3-VSTA has a different audio codec (HD Audio compatible, not AC97) than K8Upgrade-NF3, and there are no 98SE drivers for HD Audio.
So you would need to obtain a PCI sound card, as K8Upgrade-NF3 uses AC97.
Other than that, it's fully compatible. Have fun, IMO, Socket 754 is underrated.

I'm good with sound. Vortex 2 and Audigy 2 zs and a Quadro FX 3000 all on an ASUS K8V Deluxe and VIA K8T800 chipset . It can be temperamental at times so I was looking at an alternative. What's better to use a board when AMD and Nvidia were buddies!

Got that board working in me and xp. The last official drivers have an issue with the nic. So either use the 2nd to last driver or use the unofficial drivers.

Make sure to tweak the bios too. Comes with slower defaults on.
