loaded dosbox. trying to mount a drive (mount d d:\-t cdrom) comes back with d doesn't exists. no matter what drive I enter same result. tried (mount c c:\documents\gwbasic) same thing c doesn't exists. what am I doing wrong

Drives and folders you want to mount need to exist. Please show a screenshot with Explorer showing these drives and folders. What letter does dour CD-Rom drive have? Which operating system do you use?

I've been told it has to exist but where? operating system windows 7 pro. my dvd is drive D:, documents on drive C: gw basic is there. I get only one return from dosbox that drive doesn't exist.

Also, you wrote:

That needs a space after "d:\" (and before "-t-")

Methinks you make too many assumptions. Find out for sure what the actual path of your GWBASIC folder is before attempting to mount it.

Edit: i.e., if you open command prompt and type

c:
cd \documents\gwbasic

Would it work? I don't think the Windows 7 directory structure works like this. It's probably something like c:\Users\Your User Name\GWBASIC
