Hey,

I've got an Optiplex GX1 tower chassis with a Pentium II 350MHz processor. I've updated BIOS to A07 and according to this it should be able to take socket 370 to slot 1 adapters with Coppermine processors in them. I have a 1GHz Coppermine Celeron in my slocket but when I power up the machine it does not post or beep. Same thing happens if you boot it without a processor installed. Works perfectly with the PII processor.

I've tried default jumper settings and manually adjusting them to 100MHz FSB + correct voltage but still no dice. Also note there is a jumper (not my picture but same motherboard) where you set the CPU speed (up to 550MHz IIRC) but I've tried some configs and no dice with them. Any help is appreciated, thanks! Pictures attached.

Oh, boo apparently the slocket itself doesn't support Coppermines.

Your Slotket does not appear to have a VRM onboard so unless your mainboard has one it will not boot with Coppermines. I believe the GX1 does not have that on the mainboard, so try to find a more recent Slotket would be my advice! Otherwise the fastest CPU you could use is the 550MHz Katmai P3.

An internet friend is sending me a proper slocket so hopefully that will work fine.

Nice. What slotket is it? Any identifiable markings?
