. I wanted to upgrade the cpu, right now it has an via cpu board that suports via c3's and tualatin Piii.
Unable to find a faster 1.2ghz or 1.4ghz c3 and not wanting a Piii, was their ever any socket A picmg 1.0 cpu boards made? I personally can't find any.

The only other option would be a Pentium IV, which could get you up to 3.06 or 3.2Ghz depending on the chipset and BIOS.

Sadly rocky boards are far from cheap and abundant.
Stupid question, would Ilose dma with such a board.

But I rather not use a p4. To much heat and the weight from the heatsink scares me.

You shouldn't lose DMA. The bus speed indicates that it is one of the older chipsets (200/266 clock doubled bus speed) which means it should have DMA.

Even the older Socket 478 PICMG boards can have DMA.
Just double check the spec sheets / instruction manuals.
