I have a Penitum 4 2.5 ghz. I'm trying to play Warcraft 2 with my brother in the next room. I'm using WinXP with VDMSound and he has Win98 so the IPX Network function works fine for him, but on my computer it won't detect the IPX Network. I've checked the function in the advanced option for low level network support but it doesn't work. We're connected through a router. Can anyone help? Thanks.

Low-level netw. support effectively loads the IPX stack. You may need to configure IPX on your ethernet adapter. Also see "IPX" in the index of Windows Help.

First test your network with another Win32 IPX compatible game (Quake III and Delta Force are two examples from my own collection). This ensures that you have IPX properly configured in Windows.

If that works smoothly enough, ensure the VDM redirector is loaded:

In the c:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt file, look for a line which reads:

lh %SystemRoot%\system32\redir

(if this line has REM before it remove that, and then save the file)

then check your autoexec.vdms file for the same line and add it if it is not there.

Note: The entries I have mentioned above must be added before the line that refers to 'dosx' in both files.
