When I try to use VDMSound to get sound in Settlers 2 I get an very strange error message. I works fine to select a sound driver in the settlers2 setup.exe, which it dosen't without VDMSound.
But then i try to run the settlers2 game.exe i get an error message " OUTHER MAIN LOOP ERROR - No vesa-driver found!! "
Plz help me. I cant live without the settlers2 music 😉

Thank you everyone for your help!

#1 - Enable "Basic VESA Emulation" in VDMSound.
#2 - Don't enable above, but hit Alt+Enter really quickly when the DOS window pops up.
#3 - Use NOLFB.COM.
#4 - Use UniVBE.

Yes, it’s my fault.

how do I enable "Basic VESA Emulation" in VDMSound ?
I tryed to press "ALT + ENTER" fast and it works, but then i get a message that "COM port 2 cant be opened". If i then press IGNORE I get into the game, but the sound plays very slow.
I have NOLFB.

First things first, please give us your system specs (OS, Processor, RAM,etc...) to help us help you to troubleshoot your problem.

That depends on whether or not you've installed the GUI launcher. If you have, then check the properties of the VDMSound shortcut for your game. Then click on "Enable Basic VESA support", then OK.

If you haven't installed the GUI, then go back and get the VDMSound Update files, install them, then Install the GUI. Make sure to read the instructions.

I have NOLFB.

That may or may not be helpful, stick with getting VDMSound configured for right now.
