I have a slot 1 board that seems to be very sensitive to any bumps or touching of the heatsink to get an idea of the temperature. if I barely touch the fins of the HS the machine will lock. if I bump the keyboard into the case, the system will lock up. Surely this isn't too normal, but I remember back when the slot1 came out having issues when moving a Pii system to another location for someone and only getting a black screen cause the processor needed to be reseated. I thought I would ask if someone knew if maybe there were different locking methods on the slot 1 processors.

Perhaps the card edge connector of the processor and/or the motherboard slot can use some 99% isopropyl. I'd recommend q-tips/cotton swabs for the former, and a paper towel wrapped around some thin cardboard for the latter.

Golden advice. Thank you very much. I went ahead and cleaned both surfaces and I have not been able to make the machine lock up with minor bumping.

Thanks..
