Some old Sound Blaster 16 cards had built in Yamaha YMFx Chips.
At what generation Sound blaster did the Yamaha chips NOT become needed ?
for MIDI/Adlib/OPL support ?

The only SB16 cards that had genuine Yamaha OPL support without a discrete Yamaha chip were ones that had a CT1747 bus chip. Cards featuring CT2505, CT2511, and AWE64 cards have integrated OPL solutions, but it's Creative's CQM version.
