Hi. I'm ALMOST ready to download and install the VDMSound proggie. But I need to know one thing.... it only mentions DOS boxes while in CERTAIN operating systems...

VDMSound provides sound support to DOS boxes under Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000

But I'm "hoping" this thing can work in TRUE DOS with a bootable disk. Another quote (and MY operating system which is WinXP is mentioned here too)...

VDMSound works on Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000 and Windows XP. It does not work on Windows 95, 98 or Me.

OK... so you are able to SEE exactly what I'm looking for, can you please take a look at a "desperate" thread at another forum where this absolutely lovely person named GretaP has been trying to help me and ALSO just suggested the VDMSound Project, where I IMMEDIATELY ran to after she posted, and which IMMEDIATELY brought me here to register at this board!

I am desperate!!! 🤣 !
But please take a look at This Desperate Thread for me.
That way you will see what I'm attempting to do and HOPEFULLY you can tell me something like.... "Hey!! Go ahead and download and use VDMSound. This is EXACTLY what you neeed!"
And then of course my response to THAT would be... "GREAT!!! Now where can I send my DONATION???" 😜

Thanks in advance!

Okay, for Quake you do not need DOS mode and you most definetly do not want it. What you DO want os GLQuake which is a Win32 executable for Quake that provides many enhancements. (Glqake is just one of many Quake Win32 executables)

Anyways if use use this programs and you have an OpenGL compliant video card then you will not have to boot into DOS.

I would post more but use http://www.google.com for about 5 minutes and if you search around you can find many more Quake modifications.

Did we mention it's a lot better? 😉

Yes, it’s my fault.
